German-Americans have been putting on this parade — named after a Prussian-born general who fought alongside George Washington — for over 50 years, and it always draws national and international groups out to participate in the three-hour spectacle. This year’s grand marshals include John Ratzenberger — best known as Cliff Claivin from TV’s Cheers — as well as MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer and former Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit.

Plattduetsche Park — Ompahfest 2015 (September 20)
For plenty of German festivities, look no further than the recently renovated Plattduetsche Park and their Ompahfest 2015.
