Now in its 35th year, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) Photography Show New York brings together more than 80 of the world’s best photography galleries in New York City to celebrate everything photographic.

Running from April 16-19, the show takes place at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Feel like getting a sneak peek? The AIPAD Opening Night Preview takes place Wednesday, April 15, and features an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and a chance to peruse the incredible works of art before the general public.

In addition to the thousands of photographs on display for the general public, a series of discussion sessions will offer budding snappers and photography collectors the chance to hear from curators, vendors and photographers about their craft and the the artistic process.

And while this year’s lineup is still being finalized, the one confirmed session is sure to be stellar. The New York Close Up session will present a series of short films documenting some of today’s most dynamic photographers including Lucas Blalock, Daniel Gordon, Mary Mattingly and Erin Shirreff.

Of course, New York City is overflowing with incredible galleries, be they photography-oriented or focused on other mediums. From the overarching scope of the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Museum of Modern Art to photography-focused spaces such as Danzinger Gallery, Pace/MacGill or Aperture Gallery, Manhattan offers art lovers more choice than is imaginable.

Need a break from the art? Take a walk through Central Park. Explore some of the city’s glamorous department stores or the quaint, inimitable boutiques.
